Originally filmed as part of the Sketchbook Revival Online Workshop, this video lesson features an intro painting discussion between Faith and Sketchbook Revival creator Karen Abend. We’ll dive into a long 45 minute video lesson as I lead you through my step-by-step start to finish creation process of one of my layered watercolor paintings. From gathering shape and pattern inspiration to how I make and record color choices, you’ll be there every step of the way.

What Supplies will I need for this workshop?

I recommend to all my students that you start with what you have on hand already, you never need the exact supplies that I use. If you’re interested in finding out more about my must have watercolor supplies visit my list of favorites right here.

Supplies that you’ll need for this workshop…

your favorite watercolor paint set
watercolor paper or sketch book
watercolor brushes (any size and shape)
a variety of drawing implements: a pencil, very fine tip pen, some acrylic paint markers (my favorite brands are Molotow, Posca and Sharpie)
a photo that you'd like to interpret in your painting (travel photos work great, or a picture with colors that you love from a magazine)

For my studio set up I always have a jar or two for water and paper towels or rags.

Hi, I’m Faith Evans-Sills, I’m a painter, author and teacher. I am endlessly inspired by nature's wild and small moments. My first book Painting the Sacred Within, is a guide to art techniques for expressing your authentic inner voice. I teach both online and at my art retreats for women in Costa Rica and Morocco. My paintings are exhibited widely and included in numerous publications and private collections.
